    For all of their roaring, growling, and ferociousness, lions are family animals and truly social in their own communities. Highly distinctive, the male lion is easily recognized by its mane, and its face is one of the most widely recognized animal symbols in human culture

In this pyrographic portrait of the male lion I tried to capture his flowing mane and his regal look. Surely he is the “King of the Jungle”. I hope that you enjoy viewing my latest woodburning.

All of the above pyrographic animal portraits are burned by hand using special wood burning tools. Some of the portraits took as much as 80 hours to complete as the features need to be built up with the tools. Unfortunately, there are no mistakes that can be corrected in woodburning so patience and the utmost care must be taken. All of the portraits are placed in wood frames that coordinate with the woodburning to enhance its beauty or are burned on wood plaques with beveled edges that can be hung on walls without outside frames. The pricing is done with respect to the amount of work that is put into the woodburning and the amount of time needed to complete.
